The Peak Of Autumn

Happy Thursday!

We have some friends in town this week who lived in Lead three years ago. It’s always fun to have company when you live in the Black Hills – it gives you a reason to run around and do all the things you don’t often get to do.

We took a walk down Main Street and I got to see it all through fresh three-years-worth-of-change eyes. Which was really cool because again, sometimes it’s hard to see that we’re actually moving forward. They very much enjoyed the walk through our retail stores and we finished with drinks at Jailhouse Taps. It was fun to see how much things have changed.

We’re going to enjoy a little bit of time visiting the Southern Hills and enjoying our breathtaking autumnal season!

______ Here’s what happening this week in town

Friday, 9/25 – It’s Disabled Veterans Day in Lead. Take some time to thank someone who gave some more.

Also Friday – The Lead-Deadwood Homecoming Parade. This will start in Deadwood at 2pm and come up through Lead around 3pm. The football game at Ferguson field will start at 6pm against Rapid City Central.

This is Buffalo Round-Up Friday in Custer!

Saturday, 9/26 – Crazy Horse is having their annual fall Volksmarch to the top of the monument!

It’s the craft Hops & Hogs event in Deadwood. See their website for more details. https://www.deadwood.com/event/craft-beer-fest-hops-and-hogs/

Spearfish Canyon is just about at peak beauty so if you can be sure to take a drive. Don’t forget to get a sourdough buckwheat pancake or famous Indian taco at Cheyenne Crossing! Or dinner at Latchstring Inn at Spearfish Canyon Lodge!

_____News & Notes

We’re sending out our print newsletter this afternoon! If you don’t get it but would like to, it’s included in individual memberships. Or you can read it online https://www.leadmethere.org/lead-me-there

Looks like it will be time to drag out some of our winter clothes soon – if you’re needing those summer items cleaned before putting them away, be sure to consider Black Hills Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Spearfish – I’ve used a lot of dry cleaners in my travels and I always find that they do a super good job! We want to thank them for their membership renewal!

It’s getting to be that time again – to think about our 2021 sponsorships! A huge thank you again to our 2020 annual sponsors: Black Hills Energy, Coeur Wharf, Lynn’s Dakotamart, First National Bank, First Interstate Bank, Homestake Mining Company, Interstate Engineering, Ainsworth Benning, DL Economic Development, KEVN, VFW post #5969, Monument Health and the City of Lead. This was a rough year and you all helped us navigate it!

I hope you all have a great weekend – enjoy our beautiful (albeit short) fall!

With Love from Lead,

Sierra
