Howdy!
A few years ago “grit” was a popular buzzword. Angela Duckworth’s famous six minute TED talk has been viewed over 19 million times! It’s worth a listen!
When I think of grit I think of the hero of a western movie. He’s been knocked down by the bad guy and his face is in the dirt. There’s a shot of his mouth full of dirt and his eyes blaze because just when it seems like the good guy has lost, we know he’s about to spring to his feet and vanquish evil!
These are tough times, and they seem to get harder each week. So many have lost their jobs and we all feel so uncertain about the future (at times downright panicky!) At no time in world history have we ever gone through something like this. We’re at that moment when we’ve been knocked off our feet and have our head ground into the dirt. It might (probably will) get a little even worse, the bad guy (fortunately for us, just circumstance) might come over and put his boot on our heads and grind a little harder. But you know what?!
We’re going to get back up and win! I know it! So in this time, when it seems pretty grim, and your mouth is full of dirt – your teeth grinding on the grit, don’t give up. Get everything ready to spring into action! It might not be in a day, or few weeks, it might even be a few months, but the time is coming!
