Why, hello there!
A few weeks ago a friend’s kid (in Lead) was nominated for an award you had to acquire votes to win online. It was a voting thing between several kids from several different northern hills areas. My friend decided that his kid was going to win if it killed him (cheating not involved). With 24 hours left he began canvasing his friends, relatives and distant acquaintances. His pitch? “You’re from Lead, let’s do this!” Pretty soon all of them were canvasing their friends and distance relations as well. The kid won with over 400 votes, so not just winning but piling on all the competition with over 50% of all the total votes.
Afterwards friend said, “You know what was really amazing about that experience? That people are so incredibly loyal to Lead. Once they found out it was someone going to Lead High School they jumped over themselves to vote and get all their friends to vote.” It’s kind of true, once Lead gets into your heart, it never leaves – no matter how far afield you find yourself.
What makes Lead get into your heart? I’d love to hear!
