Good morning!
Isn’t it wonderful when we have soaking thunderstorms at night and the days are scrubbed clean and beautiful? Happy Thursday!
One of the things I think is pretty cool about Lead is the public staircases. “Sidewalks that are STAIRS?!” people who don’t live here say. I know… inconceivable! If you ever walk around town you’ll quickly realize just how great these staircases are. There are even houses that are only accessible by the stairs. My mom was born in a house that was 106 stairs up or 94 down. (Let’s not consider the fun game of moving in there). Now that the weather is fine, enjoy a lovely evening hike around our great town and see if you can find some of these staircases.
Here’s what’s happening this week:
Broadway Basics Dance Class at the Historic Homestake Opera House from 12-2pm. If you’ve already signed up – thanks! And if you haven’t and still want to go check with Anne 584-2067 to see if you can squeeze in – it’s going to be so fun!
Pie Social in Manuel Brother’s Park at 3pm. We’ve had some great music lately thanks to some friends who bring their instruments and enjoy a summer afternoon playing together. They’d love you to bring your instrument and jam with them. And if you don’t play just come down and enjoy some pie. We normally stay either until we’ve sold out or around 4:30ish. I won’t be there today (wedding) but I hope I have a few of my awesome board members filling in for me! (Thank you Karen and Anne!)
Tonight, at 7pm on the Adam’s House Lawn there is a concert from the Northern Hills Community Band. This is a free event but they always accept donations.
It’s a quiet weekend as we come into the high summer season and people are gone or busy with family. You can always hike down those stairs and check out our booming Main Street! If you haven’t been to Miners and Merchants Trading Post check that out. Every Sunday they have a sip and shop event with free drinks (beer and wine) on the house. The Black Hills Mining Museum is open, if you’ve never been on the guided “underground” tour, I highly recommend! Go meet Amy and Dennis at Miner’s Tin Cup and enjoy a rootbeer and a hug – they are some of the friendliest, kindest people I’ve met! Play tourist in your own town.
On Monday the Handley Recreation Center is continuing their Monday Madness Summer Rec Leagues in Manuel Brother’s Park from 6-10pm for all ages.
Save the date next Thursday 6/27 at 5pm for our June Luau Mixer at Ponderosa Pines and Cabins! and on Friday 6/28 at 1pm for an Anne Charles book signing here at the Visitor Center.
Gold Camp Jubilee is shaping up to be pretty awesome! Check out the schedule here: https://leadmethere.org/gcj/gold-camp-jubilee-days-in-lead/ And notice the biggest addition is the B-1 flyover at high noon on 7/4 – which just got finalized! I’m also adding a few more live music gigs so check back and make sure you’ve seen it all as we get closer.
