Lead Area Chamber of Commerce Announces New Executive Director
Lead, SD – The Lead Area Chamber of Commerce, on March 25th, announced the hiring of Interim Director, Leigha Patterson, to be the full time Executive Director. Patterson, previously the Assistant Director of the LACC, resigned in October 2021 after two years in the position. Her resignation was to open a business and spend time getting it started and operational in Lead. The LACC, from October to February, was left without a Director and was managed by the volunteering Board of Directors during that time. After four months, Patterson decided to step up and become the Interim Director to help out. “I missed working for the Chamber and assisting small business owners. My passion is the bakery, but I also have a passion for Lead and the people/businesses that want to make this area great!” Patterson said.
The Lead Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c6) organization that relies on member business support, fundraising, sponsorships, and grants to remain solvent. The mission of the LACC is to encourage and promote a positive, balanced and vibrant local economy while preserving those unique qualities that are good for business and will enhance the overall quality of the Lead area; promote and enhance opportunities for its membership and the community; to encourage the growth of existing industries and businesses while giving all proper assistance to any new firms or individuals seeking to locate in the Lead area. To support all those activities believed to be beneficial to the community and area; to promote the welfare of all area citizens, always following those policies intended to accomplish the greatest good for the greatest number; and to provide for the continuity of leadership of the LACC.
