Happy Thursday!
Aren’t we having a glorious June? It’s been so nice to have actual summer weather this year!
I’ve noticed something recently about the passage of time. When time is spent in a specific routine that is generally the same from day to day, it’s much harder to remember. Do you remember the shower you took three days ago (or even yesterday)? Probably not, because it was most likely identical to every other shower you’ve taken for the past several years! Who among us remembers ANYTHING from April?? We were at home, making banana bread and trying not to panic… stressing about all the things. But other than that it’s a big blur of weirdness with not very many stand out memories. It will continue to fade off into our memory until it’s just a smudge on the year.
What makes time expand and stand out is doing things that are different. Summer is so precious here in Lead, and at just (hopefully) three good months, it’s so crucial to really squeeze ALL the life you possibly can out of every moment, even if part of that means taking time to just sit and savor the moment with a sit on the front porch. We’re making plans to go to the lake, to take specific hikes (Crow Peak here we come!), and go on picnics to enjoy every minute of it. And even when those minutes are spent doing things I have to do, I’ve been trying to shake up the routine by listening to a great summer audio book, or summer music – everything to better remember this beautiful fleeting time we have.
_____ Here’s what’s happening around town this week______
Tonight! Thursday, 6/18 4:30-6:30 Pie Social Chamber Mixer. This summer we’re just doing our pie social once every month on the Davis Ring Patio (the big ring sculpture right next to the Visitor Center). We know some of you are super starved for fun events, so on top of pie, coffee and lemonade, we’re also having some entertainment provided by Marlin Maynard! This has also been a tough year for entertainers, so we’re happy to provide some work and also some fun times for Lead! Bring a lawn chair and come hang out outside with us!
Sunday is Father’s Day! Do you have plans? Cheyenne Crossing is having a special menu for the day. If you haven’t been to Lead Country Club it’s pretty great this year. The warm drier weather has been extra nice for the grass.
Thursday, 6/25 is Golden Fold! This is when the Golden Gang comes over to help us fold our newsletters. If you’re interested in becoming a member of the “exclusive gang”, you can come to the Visitor Center at 10:30pm and join us in the back classroom (lots of room to spread out).
