Onward And Upward In The Mile High City

Good morning!

It’s been almost nine months since I started this job. I hit the ground running when I started, and everything up until the 4th of July has felt like a reaction and trying to (just barely) keep up. There were lots of times when I was overwhelmed. My word for 2019 has been FORWARD – when I don’t know the way, I keep going. When I get confused, I just make a decision – really, any decision – and continue. It’s served me well so far, and somehow I did move forward, and past and through all the challenges that have hit. Now I’m looking into the next six months and preparing for the second year. It’s kind of exciting getting ready to graduate from freshman status!

This is a great Ted talk (6 minutes) with some thoughts on grit/perseverance:

Annnnd here’s what’s happening around Lead!

Today, Thursday 7/25
10:30am – the Golden Gang is coming to help me fold newsletters, which will be mailed this afternoon – look for them in your mail tomorrow (if you’re local). Can I just add a note here about how good the USPS is? I got a letter this week in a scrawl that was addressed to “Lead Area Chamber of Commerce, ND 57754” I had to laugh that it got here. Way to go, USPS. Also, if you’re interested in joining the Golden Gang we have several members that are moving away – this is a group I’d like to cultivate and get more active, and we need to make sure it stays fresh!  Come join us!
3pm – Pie Social! Today’s homemade pie is Margarita and Strawberry Rhubarb. Meet in Manuel Brother’s Park. If you have an instrument, bring it and play with us in Manuel Brother’s Park.
7:30pm – the Red Willow Band Reunion Concert at the Homestake Opera House is SOLD OUT!

Saturday, 7/27
7am – Mile High Mountain Bike Challenge! Registration is $35 and starts at 7am at Lotus Up. Come support Northern Hills Rec Assc.!

Monday, 7/29
6pm – the last Monday Madness Summer Rec League night with the Handley Rec Center. Come enjoy some sports and summer fun! Meet in Manuel Brother’s Park.

The Methodist Church is preparing to do their Annual Pancake Breakfast during Rally week! So save the date for that!

Also, did you know that Vila’s Pharmacy is open inside Ace Hardware? They paired down their stock but still also sell basic first aid needs and over the counter drugs as well. They’re having a special right now – for every prescription you transfer they’ll give you a $10 gift card to Lynn’s or Ace (up to $50)! They also do deliveries! How lucky are we to have a pharmacy in town?

Now that we’re through the first half of the year, what are you reflections and hopes for the rest of it? I’d love to hear them! Your replies make my day!

Have a wonderful Thursday!
Sierra
