WinterFest – January
Location: Lead
This is our January community event. We start Friday night with a Mixer, Chili Cook-Off and the Crowning of King & Queen of the Snow or Royal Court (an entertaining pageant). Saturday follows with activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, tubing, etc. A Parade of Lights through town, fireworks over the Open Cut and a bond fire (burning of the Christmas trees) in the Homestake Visitor Center parking lot.

Annual Banquet - January-March
Location: Lead or Deadwood

Every year the Chamber host an Annual Banquet to show our appreciation for our Members.  A theme is always included, along with fun activities and give-a-ways.  The Board Members that have finished their term are thanked for their service and the new Board Members, which were voted on by the members, are announced and welcomed in.

Black Hills Wine Festival – May
Location: Lead and Deadwood
This is a 3-day event centered, in part, on Lead’s wine history. The events will take place in Lead and Deadwood. Wineries from the Black Hills and surrounding States will participate. Food Vendors will be on hand for all to enjoy. Passport classes, wine tasting, give-a-ways, live entertainment, etc. will be some of the activities.

National Trails Day on the Mickelson Trail – June
Location: Begins at the Lead-Deadwood High School, Lead and ends at the Deadwood Trailhead, Deadwood 
The whole family will enjoy this event, you can pick your pace, walk, run or ride on our 5-mile Mickelson Trail trek. 

Mile High Show ‘N Shine – July
Location: Lead
This event is in conjunction with Gold Camp Jubilee (4th of July) It’s time to show off your cars and trucks! Along with the Show ‘N Shine, these vehicles are eligible to participate in the Gold Camp Jubilee Tri-City Parade (Lead, Deadwood & Central City) on July 4th.

Gold Camp Jubilee Days – July
Location: Lead
In Manual Brothers Park.

Activities are scheduled for children and adults. Vendors dot the landscape of the park. Live Entertainment, a Tri-City Parade through Deadwood, Central City & Lead, Fireworks over the Open Cut and many more activities.

Classic & Collector Car Auction – August
(Same weekend as Kool Deadwood Nights in Deadwood, South Dakota)
Location: Homestake Visitor Center Parking Lot, 160 W. Main St., Lead

Lead has the privilege of hosting the annual “Classic & Collector Car Auction”.  Folks from miles around come together to show off their classic beauties and hope to bring a profit.  Everyone is invited to attend this 2-day event.  If you are interested in auctioning your vehicle, please contact Kevin McPherson www.mcphersonauction.com

Mile High Bike Fest – August
(During Sturgis Rally Week August)
Location: Homestake Visitor Center Parking Lot, 160 W. Main St., Lead
Over 400,000 Bikers come to Sturgis Bike Week and the Black Hills every year. In Lead, we host “Mile High bike fest”. This event runs one week with our highlight day being Tuesday. Vendors fill the parking lot for the week. On Tuesday, we have entertainment, bike competitions, Lady’s Show ‘N Shine, helicopter rides from Manual Brothers Park and more. Flavor of Lead Festival – September
Location: Lead
This 2-day event brings the Community together by recognizing Lead’s Ethnic Heritage. Our Community Potluck takes place on Friday evening, followed by a full day of activities and entertainment on Saturday.

Festival of Trees – November or December
Location: Historic Homestake Opera House, 309 W. Main St., Lead
Throughout this is a 5-day event there decorating classes, art exhibits, and on the last day a mixer and tree auction. All proceeds go to the restoration of the Opera House.

Black Hills Center of Hope
Is a Christian based non-profit organization, who care about the people of our community. They have overcome addictions and adversities through perseverance and faith in Jesus Christ. Historic Deadwood-Lead Arts Council

Historic Deadwood-Lead Arts Council is responsible for many events that bring joy, excitement and great entertainment to our community. Events include community theatre, Lego contest for kids, monthly exhibits, quilt show, classes, Gospel Show, art shoppe, art contests, free craft projects for kids, etc. For more information: www.deadwoodleadartscouncil.com

Historic Homestake Opera House
Known as the Jewel of the Black Hills, the Lead Opera House has been a majestic landmark in our small mining town of Lead for nearly a century. Northern Hills Family Recreational Center
The Northern Hills Family Recreational Center offers several amenities: swimming, wading pool, whirlpool, sauna, weight room, aerobics/multi-purpose room, racquet ball, walking track, roller skating, martial arts, gymnastics, basketball, showers, preschool and youth programs. Black Hills Mining Museum
Welcome to the Black Hills Mining Museum, located in the mile-high city of Lead. Our non-profit educational corporation is dedicated to the preservation of the rich mining heritage of the Black Hills of South Dakota. We invite you to visit us and enjoy our numerous exhibits and activities. For more than a century, gold mining had been the #1 industry in Lead and in the Northern Black Hills. Today’s mining heritage is cleverly depicted as an educational and fun Black Hills Badlands and Lakes Association Family Approved Attraction.  Information on upcoming events:

Phoebe Apperson Hearst Library
It is Phoebe Apperson Hearst Library's mission to give residents of all ages the means to continue to grow and learn throughout their lives; to get answers to their questions; to find, evaluate, and use information effectively; to satisfy their recreational reading interests; and to meet and interact with others in the community.
